Before an Incident
Understand what it means to Shelter in Building (SIB) and the purpose of these procedures: SIB is a short-term precautionary procedure that will help protect employees by taking shelter inside the building if a hazardous condition exists outdoors.
- Familiarize yourself with Shelter in Building Supply Locations
During an Incident
In the event of severe weather, release of hazardous materials, or any situation where it is best to stay inside, employees may be directed by emergency response personnel to shelter in building.
- Stay inside the building and away from windows.
- If you need water and food supplies, proceed to the designated SIB supplies location.
- A SIB situation may last a few minutes to a few hours, not days.
After an Incident
Only exit the building after receiving the “All Clear”, and report any damage to SCC
