Responsibility

All Employees and Residents

  • Participate and adhere to all requirements during exercises or true emergency events
  • Respond to any form of emergency notification in a timely and serious manner
  • Follow outlined procedures and evacuate to designated assembly areas
  • Report unsafe or suspicious behavior and circumstances immediately
  • Ensure EHS and / or Security are aware if any additional assistance is needed in the event of an emergency
  • Complete the emergency preparedness training
  • Review and understand their respective site’s emergency plan
  • Dial 911 in the event of an emergency
    • In AGO and CHA, SCC will bridge in and connect to the call to support
    • If dialing from a mobile device or outside of AGO and CHA, immediately call the SCC after 911 to report the incident

Building Coordinator / Accountability Monitor (ABQ, CRY, CCSFB, GB, HOU, HSV)

  • Once outside, direct personnel to the appropriate assembly area
  • Receive reports of employee accountability from managers/designees and report to Security.

Floor Monitor (VSFB)

  • Direct an orderly evacuation on the floor. Monitor pedestrian flow in all available stairwells and redirect the flow accordingly
  • Establish a safe area on the floor for disabled personnel
  • Provide assistance to personnel and notify the Fire Department of any requirements relaying the information through the Building Monitor
  • Report to the Building Monitor when the floor is clear and any information regarding disabled personnel still on the floor

Management

  • Accounts for each of their employees in the event of an emergency shutdown and reports unaccounted employees to the appropriate SCC by means of EHS, Security, or designee; Assigned designee may also fulfill this role
  • Notifies the Security Control Center (or established representative at regional offices) of any emergency or potential safety/health problem
  • Informs EHS and/or Security of any employees who may need additional assistance in the event of an emergency
    Directs employees to complete the emergency preparedness training
  • Ensures hazard communication signage (such as “Right to Know” posters) and laboratory contact information is current
