Medical Emergencies

** Each Aerospace location has individuals trained to render first aid and enable basic life support, which
includes proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), as appropriate.

During the Emergency:

  • Dial 911 and notify the SCC. Be prepared to provide as much information as possible concerning
    the medical emergency:

– Name of affected individual
– Type of injury/illness (If unknown, describe symptoms)
– Location of affected person in facility (Address, building, floor and room number)
– Employee, contractor, visitor status

*Do not hang up until given permission by the operator

  • Provide assistance to the individual to the level of your training- Please do not attempt medical care beyond your knowledge.
  • For an unconscious person, ask a bystander to bring the nearest AED. (Locations are marked on the floor evacuation route maps).

  • For injuries resulting from slips or falls, help the injured person to remain calm and in the position in which you found them until emergency response personnel arrive. Move the injured person only if their safety is at risk. Moving an injured person can cause additional or more serious injury.
  • For emergencies involving electrical shock, do not touch the affected person, as they may still be
    connected to electrified material.
  • Never allow an individual to drive themselves to an urgent or emergency care unless they are in a fit condition to do so in a safe manner. An employee whose condition appears to be unstable should not leave the premises unaccompanied.

A list of local medical facilities is available.

After the incident:

  • Do not disturb the site where the incident occurred unless directed to do so.
  • Do not remove any article or substance involved in the incident, unless this action is deemed
necessary to prevent further incidents or to rescue persons from danger.
