Albuquerque
Site Executive, Lara Schmidt, has delegated the authority to the Security Associate Director, Dan Frampton, to issue site delays and site closure for ABQ. In the event Dan is unavailable, Kevin Wyckoff (Security Specialist) will make this determination.
The Security Associate Director and Security Specialist will routinely track weather forecasts (Weather Channel, local news stations, etc.). If inclement weather is forecasted, Security will follow this process:
- The day before the inclement weather:
- Verify if landlord has snow crews are readily available and on-site to clear sidewalks and parking lot.
- Alert the SCC that inclement weather is forecasted in ABQ
- Email site executives to inform of Security tracking potential inclement weather
- Day of inclement weather:
- By 4 AM, call the Kirtland Air Force Base snowline at 505-853-7669 to see if there is a delay or closure on base.
- If there is a delay, ABQ will follow suit.
- Contact the SCC to release a site delay AeroElert by 5:15am MT
- Call Kirtland Air Force Base line an hour before the set delay time to determine if delay time is extended or site will open.
- Send an updated AeroElert at least 30 mins prior to the original delayed time.
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Patrick Space Force Base, Kennedy Space Center
Site Executive, Randy Kendall, has delegated the authority to the Principal Director (Scott Kelliher) to issue site delays and site closure for CCSFS, PSFB, and KSC. In the event of the Principal Director being unavailable, the Security Specialists (Chrystal Rodriguez or Charles Crisafulli), will make this determination.
The Principal Director and Security Specialist will track weather forecasts through Space Launch Delta (SLD) 45 and local area authorities. If inclement weather is forecasted, the Principal Director and Security Specialist will follow this process:
- The day before the inclement weather:
- Principal Director or Security Specialist will monitor potential for inclement weather
- Alert the SCC that inclement weather is forecasted
- Notify affected employees of inclement weather in the area and inform them of potential site delay/closing.
- Principal Director or Security Specialist will monitor potential for inclement weather
- Day of inclement weather:
- SLD 45 will send an email, make use of warning system, call, or text to notify personnel of inclement weather
- If there is a delay/closure, CCSFS, PSFB, and KSC will follow suit
- Contact the SCC to release a site delay AeroElert
- If notified that it is safe to return, then SCC will be contacted to send out an AeroElert of site re-opening
- Employees will follow local area authorities for updates
- If there is damage to Aerospace offices or base facilities, Principal Director will inform VP for awareness purposes
Colorado Springs
Site Executive, Lara Schmidt, has delegated the authority to the COS Security Director (Mike Oehler) to issue site delays and site closure for COS. In the event Mike is unavailable, the EHS Specialist (Alex Palan), will make this determination. The Security Director and EHS Specialist will routinely track weather forecasts (Weather Channel, local news stations, etc.). If inclement weather is forecasted, Security Director/EHS Specialist will follow this process:
The day before the inclement weather:
- Alert Facilities (Bob Lund) to have snow crew and salt treatment ready if needed
- Alert the SCC that inclement weather is forecasted in COS
- Email site and customer leadership to inform of EHS/Security tracking potential inclement weather
- Site Leadership: Lara Schmidt, VP
- Customer Leadership POC: Karl Heidelberg and Robert Marlett
Day of inclement weather:
- By 4 AM, call the Peterson SFB weather line at 719-556-7669 or check opening status online to see if there is a delay or closure on base.
- If there is a delay, COS will follow suit.
- Contact the SCC to release a site delay AeroElert by 5:15am MT
- Contacts Facilities to ensure:

- The contracted snow crews have cleared the parking lots and sidewalks.

- The sidewalks have been treated.
- Call Peterson SFB weather line an hour before the set delay time to determine if delay time is extended or site will open.
- Send an updated AeroElert at least 30 mins prior to the original delayed time.
Hill Air Force Base
Site Executive, Randy Kendall, has delegated the authority to the Associate Principal Director to issue site delays and site closure for Aerospace employees at Hill AFB. In the event the Associate Principal Director is unavailable, the Security Manager will make this determination.
The Associate Principal Director and Security Manager routinely track weather forecasts (Google Weather, AccuWeather, and US weather service). If inclement weather is forecasted, the Associate Principal Director/Security will follow this process:
- The day before the inclement weather:
- Alert the SCC that inclement weather is forecasted at Hill AFB
- Email site and customer leadership to inform of EHS/Security tracking potential inclement weather
- Site Leadership: Randy Kendall, VP
- Day of inclement weather:
- By 5:30 AM, look at either the Hill AFB Base AtHoc Notification System or Facebook for updates.
- If there is a delay, Aerospace employees at Hill AFB will follow suit.
- Contact the SCC to release a site delay AeroElert before 6:00 AM
- View the Hill AFB Base AtHoc Notification System an hour before the set delay time to determine if delay time is extended or site will open.
- Send an updated AeroElert at least 30 mins prior to the original delayed time.
Houston
Site Executive, Jim Myers, has delegated the authority to the General Manager, Jeff Hanley, to issue site delays and site closure for employees working in Houston, NASA/Johnson Space Center. In the event Jeff is unavailable, the administrative assistant to General Manager, Nelda Ishikawa-Ward, will make this determination.
The General Manager and Administrative Assistant routinely track weather and NASA/JSC weather email notifications. If inclement weather is forecasted, GM and administrative assistant will follow this process:
- If there is a delay/closure, HOU will follow suit.
- Contact the SCC to release an AeroElert for delayed opening, closure, or early departure
- If notified that it is safe to return to the base, then SCC will be contacted to send out an AeroElert of site re-opening
- If there is damage to Aerospace offices or base facilities, General Manager will inform VP for awareness purposes
Huntsville
Huntsville, Redstone Arsenal/ULA, Decatur, AL; to also include others assigned to this location that live outside of the Alabama area (TN, GA) (currently saved in site plan)
Site Executive, Randy Kendall, has delegated the authority to the Principal Director (Steven Taylor) and Assistant Principal Director (James Northern) to issue site delays and site closure for Huntsville and Redstone Arsenal. In the event of the Principal Director/Assistant Principal Director being unavailable, the Security Manager (Yvonne Fagan), will make this determination.
The Principal Director / Assistant Principal Director and Security Manager will track weather forecasts. If inclement weather is forecasted, the Principal Directors and Security Manager will follow this process:
- The day before the inclement weather:
- Principal Director / Assistant Principal Director and Security Manager will monitor potential for inclement weather conditions
- Alert the SCC that inclement weather is forecasted
- Notify affected employees of inclement weather in the area and inform them of potential site delay/closing.
- Principal Director / Assistant Principal Director and Security Manager will monitor potential for inclement weather conditions
- Day of inclement weather:
- Principal Director / Assistant Principal Director and Security Manager will check on the weather conditions
- If there is inclement weather, Principal Director / Assistant Principal Director and Security Manager will conduct a meeting to discuss potential outcomes.
- If there is a delay/closure, HSV delegates will:
- Contact the SCC to release a site delay AeroElert
- If notified that it is safe to return, then SCC will be contacted to send out an AeroElert of site re-opening.
- Employees will follow local area authorities for updates
- If there is damage to Aerospace offices or local facilities, Principal Director will inform VP for awareness purposes.
Washington Area
The Chantilly Site Executives have delegated the authority to the NSG Operations General Manager (GM) and ETG Mission Payloads Division GM to issue site delays and site closures for Chantilly. The Greenbelt Site Executive has delegated to the CSG Civil Space Programs Operations Division GM. At other Aerospace locations within the DC, MD, and VA, Site Executives determine delays/closures.
- Facilities Director and Facilities Manager decide by 8pm the evening before inclement weather is anticipated, whether an 8 pm or 5am Tag-Up call will occur.
- If the decision is yes, a Tag-Up message (Tag-Up Meeting Scheduled – Washington Area Offices) will be sent out to the Tag-Up Team (Security Principal Director, Security Manager, EHS Manager, Facilities Director, Facilities Engineers, Site Executives or established Delegates for CHA, CRY, Greenbelt) via AeroElert.
- Before Tag-Up call, SCC checks the following and provides information to the Tag-up Team.

- Check NRO Snow Line – (703) 808-7669
- Check Aerospace (4-AERO) line to confirm what current message is (Standard or Alternate)
- Facilities determines what road & parking lot conditions are like, if possible, for the Aerospace Chantilly Campus, Greens III, Greenbelt, CRY and surrounding areas.
- Those Tag-Up Team members that can participate in the meeting will be sent a conference bridge using the preexisting notification template (Tag-Up Meeting Now) via AeroElert
- The Tag-Up call begins at 8:00 p.m. or 5:00 a.m. EST
- Decision is made for Chantilly (Aerospace Chantilly Campus & Greens III), Crystal City and Greenbelt by appropriate Executive Officers or their established Delegates
- SCC will be instructed to:
- Send the Weather-Related Washington Area Office Closure Information AeroElert notification
- Update the 4-AERO phone line with the appropriate information as necessary before 5:30 AM
- Send the Regional Office Closure Status AeroElert notification
- Send the information-only AeroElert to all employees via work email addresses
After weather-related event is finished, the SCC will be instructed to update the 4-AERO phone line with normal operations.
